Mt. Ulap

Mt. Ulap 3-Peaks Traverse

To recover after our Mt. Amuyao climb, we opted to try a minor hike while we're in Luzon. As Mindanao-based mountaineers, we have heard a lot of Mt. Ulap. It is 1864 masl, higher than the ever famous 1040 masl Mt. Loay of Sta. Cruz, but easier compared to the latter.

Recently, there are a lot of people who wanted to do mountain climbing. Sometimes, instead of seeing a "sea of clouds", we are getting a "sea of crowds". This phrase has been very popular on Luzon mountains. We really wanted to avoid this. Thus, we made sure we were fast enough to be the first on the trail. We started our hike around 4:30 AM and arrived at the summit around 6AM.

Mt. Ulap has 3 peaks - Ambanao (1788 masl), Gungal (1814 masl), and Mt. Ulap (1864 masl).

Comfort Rooms facing Mt. Sto Tomas. What a view to poo! Hahaha!

Gungal Peak

It's the 2nd peak which makes Mt. Ulap popular.

Mt. Ulap Summit

If you wish to do an overnight stay, you can. There are designated campsites in the area.

This is a very established mountain. There's even a store few minutes away from the summit.
They call this 7/11 store.

We ate breakfast, chatted a bit and then decided to go down.

Thank you Mt. Ulap for the beautiful view!
