Mt Nangalid, Datu Salumay
Marilog District, BuDa
This is my 2nd time at the place. The 1st time we went here, our guide said that the next time we'll visit, we needed to be early so we can witness it's sea of clouds view. So I invited some of my friends to do an early morning trek to Mt. Nangalid.
We left Davao around 3am - 1st trip for Rural Transit Deluxe bus (note: you can also ride the 1am aircon bus for an earlier travel). Stopover was at Datu Salumay Covered Court.
We started our trek around 4:40am. After some minutes, the sun was already out. I was kind of disappointed as I really wanted to see the sunrise and the sea of clouds at the viewdeck of Mt. Nangalid.
We walked for almost an hour and we saw Mt. Nangalid from afar with the sunrise at the background. So wow!
Luckily, we have sea of clouds! Hahaha!

*This picture was taken during our 1st climb here. I just want to show you the trail from jump-off to viewdeck
*Coffeeeeeee
Take note, this isn't the peak yet. It's just a viewdeck. Here we sipped our coffee, took some pics, rested and was amazed on the thick clouds in front of us.
After an hour at the view deck, we decided to check the peak.
One thing I like with this mountain, it doesn't have any established trail. As per the Tribal Leader, they didn't allow anyone to put up a trail here for everyone to atleast experience challenge during their visit.
Indeed it was a challenge. A piece of advise, make sure to cover yourself. There are a lot of thorny bushes around here.
And after almost an hour struggling at the thorny forest hahaha, we arrived at the peak.
Mt Nangalid's peak isn't that wide. But it offers you a 360 degrees view of the whole place! You can see Bukidnon at the left side, and Davao at the right. And of course, the sea of clouds is still there.
I just want to let you know though, this mountain is not always open for climbing activities. The people here wanted to preserve the uniqueness of the mountain's un-established trail.
However, to those who wanted to visit the place, you can contact any Local Guides in advance so they can inform the Tribal Leader and the people there for your planned visit.
