We initially planned to do a Mt. Apo hike by December of 2018. But when an invite came from a friend for a Mt. Apo Dayhike, we couldn't say no! Haha! Considering that this will be our First Major Climb, why not right? Actually, we were very nervous in doing this. I mean, Mt Apo is the highest mountain in the Philippines! Climbing it is already considered Major. How much more, doing a dayhike! Anyways, as of this writing, we were already back to our normal days at work, so that means, we survived! Wuhooo!
Team Cold at the Summit of Mt. Apo
1:00 AM - Left Davao by van
2:30 AM - Arrived at Kapatagan, rode a Bongo Elf to Jump-off
3:00 AM - Start of trek
*Since we aren't climbers, we were climbing slow. The guide said it's Ok to be slow, as long as it's continuous.
5:00 AM - Arrived at the Big Rock
6:30 AM - Arrived at Camp1 for breakfast
7:00 AM - We continued our hike
7:30 AM - Reached Camp2
8:00 AM - The Boulder Face!!
Boulder Face Pictures!!!
Since we're newbies, it took us some hours to surpass The Boulder Face. Haha! It's like after how many rocks, I've been asking them if we can rest again. Then it'll take another couple of minutes before we ascend again.
11:00 AM - Mt. Apo Summit (So here we took our lunch, and took some shots and be amazed of the clouds surrounding Mt. Apo)
Mt. Apo Summit Pictures
12:00 - Descend.
*No pictures to show coz it rained hard when we descend from Summit to Village. It made it hard for us to go down. Slide pa more times 100! We stayed for almost 30 minutes at Camp1. And as per my timer, we reached the Tourism office around 7:00 PM, freezing, hungry, very tired, very dirty and soaking wet! But it's all worth it! The experience is amazing! But won't definitely do it again. Haha! We plan to go back next year but we'll be doing the Kidapawan Traverse, hopefully.
Lesson learned? Not do a Dayhike for any Major Mountain! Haha!
Special Thanks to Sir Arjay Seron and Angtad Mountaineers for the Mt. Apo Dayhike!
